Assemble Your Nest

Once all your parts are printed, it’s time to assemble your nest. Follow these instructions to build your AntCraft formicarium.

Nest Assembly

Humidifier Assembly

  1. Prepare the Metal Mesh
    Cut a rectangle of metal mesh to fit the space beneath the ant_box. Make sure to cut a hole in the center for the humidifier.

  2. Cut the PVA Moss
    Shape a block of PVA moss to fit into the hole. Leave an extra millimeter on top of the ant_box bottom to ensure a tight fit.

  3. Assemble the Humidifier
    Place the metal mesh in the hole, and sandwich it with the PVA moss. This will secure the moss and the mesh in place, ensuring proper humidity control and no ant escape.

  4. Make some bottles Put some piece of whool in the bottle cap they will bring water to the PVA moss trough capilarity. To test it put water in it then put it in the humidifier hole and you should see some bubbles.

  1. Fit the ant_box into the Frame
    (Warning: If using a humidifier, ensure it’s mounted before.) Insert the ant_box into the frame, pushing firmly to lock it in place at the bottom.

  2. Add the Plexiglass Cover
    Cut a plexiglass rectangle to fit over your ant_box. If using a humidifier, cut a matching hole in the plexiglass for it. Once prepared, place the plexiglass on top of the ant_box.

  3. Secure the Cap
    Finally, place the cap on top and screw it in place. You can use M3 self-drilling screws for this step to ensure a secure fit.

Hunting Area Assembly

  1. Attach Pillars to the Top Frame
    Place the top part of the frame upside down. Carefully clip the pillars of the ant box into the designated slots. This will reinforce the pillars and prevent damage during the next steps. image image

  2. Insert the Ant Box into the Body Frame
    Gently align the ant box (with the top frame still attached) with the body frame. Slowly and carefully press it down until it fits snugly at the bottom. Be cautious,applying too much pressure too can cause the pillars to break. image

  3. Remove the Top Frame and Insert Acrylic Glass
    Once the ant box is in place, remove the top frame. Now, insert your acrylic glass panels on the sides, ensuring a proper fit. image image image

  4. Reattach and Secure the Top Frame
    Place the top frame back onto the body and secure it by screwing it into place. Ensure that everything is tight and well-aligned. image

Now your modules are ready you can use some door_join to link them together.
