For this new ~3 week iteration (pre-conference) we've been working on the layout for the homepage, the platform sidebar and base layout reconfiguration.
After migrating to svelte, we noticed that some elements from the previously implemented layouts weren't working correctly, which demanded that we made notes of all the inconsistencies and tried to solve them gradually before the OA2021 conference. Our process was the following:
- Gather a list of inconsistencies, make a note of priority fixes;
- Fix the base layout by making it responsive for desktop screens again;
- Improve sidebar (including: test open source icon libraries and visuals);
- Create a placeholder layout for the homepage (will need some changes after the conference);
- Create a modal window for users to sign in to the redesigned platform
- Replace logos for sign in options (Facebook, Twitter, Shibboleth, CAS, LDAP, Google);
The next phase will see an improvement to the activity feed, so that we can display user activities.
