@pumpkinhasapatch pumpkinhasapatch released this 01 Aug 07:56

This is an older version of the patch, originally released in Toro's Friend Dungeon Discord as "DokoDemoTranslationProject2.xdelta".

I am releasing it here on GitHub and using Semantic Versioning to better organise future updates.

Translation changelog:

  • Custom "PumpkinhasaPatch Presents" startup logo celebrating Toro's 25th Anniversary.
  • Text and image replacement using Atlas and GimConv in the patcher scripts.
  • Basic menu text: "New Game", "Select Pokepi", "Enter Pokepi Name".
  • Pokepi default names have been translated (Toro, Suzuki, Jun, Pierre, Ricky)
  • Can now input English letters for Pokepi and player name (It still shows Japanese characters on keypad buttons, and limited to 4 characters long).
  • "Enter Player Data" screen has most stuff translated (description text, date format, star signs, etc)
  • Introduction text for Toro and a few other lines he says. There's no line wrapping so words may wrap oddly over two lines. (Only Toro says any English text right now, other characters still speak 100% Japanese)
  • The item menu in "Mochimono" - Place in Room, Put it away, Wrap as gift, Throw away, Never mind
  • Most text and text backgrounds in the Main Menu have been translated (Open menu by pressing Right arrow on D-Pad)
  • The warning message that appears when choosing New Game on the title screen when a save file already exists has been translated.

How to apply the patch to your game:

  1. Download the .xdelta file from the Release Assets below.
  2. Go to the online xdelta patcher by kotcrab or download xdelta UI for Windows.
  3. Select your Doko Demo Issyo PSP ISO as the Source File, and the English Patch .xdelta file as the Patch File.
  4. Click the Apply Patch button. The xdelta program will combine both files into an English-translated copy of the game and save it to your computer.
  5. You can then play the game in English using the PPSSPP emulator or on a modded PSP/PSvita/PS3. (Support for modded consoles is currently in testing and may not work.)
