Diversity Work Group Meeting Minutes
June 20 2019
-
Aditi did not message people on twitter because she could not DM. Now it is agreed that she will send the message on twitter tagging each person individually. We considered this ok because those people have explicitly approved twitter as a contact medium for future talks. She will also message speakers who have accepted her request for connection on linked-in.
-
Archana heads the local chapter of Women in Data Science. She has agreed to spread the word and also reach out to other chapters.
-
Shalini and I plan to try to find speakers through github. The story teller that Shalini recommended has other programs on the days of the conference. Kavitha also has some contacts for story telling. So we can approach them.
-
One point that Archana brought up: Usually, there is no feedback given on talk proposals. Rejection is often demoraizling. If constructive feedback is given, it can be used to adapt for next talk submission.
