A decentralized system, particularly from a control/locus of control perspective, is where control is distributed across a mesh of peer nodes. This is in contrast to centralized control, where a single, primary node provides control or a distributed centralized control model - such as a primary node and its secondary (or failover) nodes, or a series of centralized nodes that cross-check for consistency
