First steps

  1. Set defaults including instance name of your database: source ./setenv.sh

  2. Have a look at kogmo_rtdb_man -h:

Usage: kogmo_rtdb_man [.....]
 -n no-daemon: don't fork into background
-d debugging: show debugging information, implies -n
-s start in simulation mode (arbitrary commit-timestamps and time)
-S SIZE create database with the given size, defaults to 67108864 bytes,
           overrides the environment variable KOGMO_RTDB_HEAPSIZE
-H DBHOST create database with the given name, must begin with 'local:',
eg. 'local:bla'. defaults to 'local:system', overrides the
           environment variable KOGMO_RTDB_DBHOST
-k kill old database (specified by -H or KOGMO_RTDB_DBHOST) and exit
 -h print this help message
  1. Start the KogMo-RTDB manager process: kogmo_rtdb_man (it backgrounds itself by default)

  1. Start an example client, that waits for data: kogmo_rtdb_reader
(nothing happens so far, no output, just waits for data)

  2. Open another console, set defaults source ./setenv.sh and start an example client that sends data: kogmo_rtdb_writer

  3. Immediately the blocked reader comes to life:

Release 616+nonrtmallocgit://github.com/matgoebl/kogmo-rtdb.git (2011-12-31 09:21:50 +0100)

I will try to kill the database by sending the manager a signal.
The manager will then terminate all its clients (SIGTERM, 2 seconds, SIGKILL).
If this fails, a stale database might hang around.
To completely remove your database:
- Look for processes that are still connected:
  Enter '/usr/sbin/lsof | grep /dev/shm/kogmo'
  (/dev/shm/kogmo.matthias.goebl = database local:matthias.goebl)
- Kill them (this includes the correspondig manager process)
- Remove the shared memory segment ('rm /dev/shm/kogmo.matthias.goebl')
Only removing the file does neither frees the memory nor kills the processes!

OK: Found old database, sending the manager (pid 7357) the termination signal..
OK: Signal delivered.
OK: Manager is terminated.

Releases

Release 2009-08-17

This is the first published LGPL version of this software. I'm currently working on code and documentation cleanup. An improved package with more examples, gui tools and instructions for hard real-time use will follow in september 2009.

Release 2009-11-20

This is the second published LGPL version of this software. The code has been cleaned up and the package now contains more examples and gui tools. The documentation will be cleaned up and improved soon.

Release 2011-12-31

Changed license from LGPL to Apache License Version 2.0. Added udprmon and tlsf allocator. Added some documentation and minor updates.
