1. Getting Started With Your TCD Kit

Assembly of the CircuitSetup Time Circuits Display kit is fairly straight forward. To start, lets make sure you have everything you need.
Your kit should have come with the following:
- 3x Segment displays in (Red, Green, Yellow)
- ESP32 powered control board
- TRW style number keypad (must be disassembled to use number keys, pcb and rubber backing)
- Gels for displays (Red, Green, Yellow)
- Mounting hardware (37x screws for display enclosure to outer enclosure, display PCB to enclosures, speaker mount, keypad mount, 4x small screws for keypad PCB to bezel mount)
- Connection wiring (3x 4p JST-XH for display I2C, 1 7p JST-XH for keypad)
- Square keypad LED lenses (2x white, 1x red/amber/green)
- Small 4ohm 3W speaker
- Display stickers
For orders with 3d printed parts or aluminum enclosures, you should have the following:
- Outer display enclosure – one piece (silver/aluminum)
- 3x inner display enclosure (silver/aluminum)
- 3x faceplates (silver)
- Keypad (Olive green – smooth on top)
- Keypad lens bracket (white - snaps into keypad to hold lenses and enter button)
- Keypad inner bezel (white – smooth on top)
- Enter button spacer (white)
- Display mounting hardware - 9 standoffs with screws (aluminum kit only)
If you are printing your own parts, the stl files are located here
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Thin double sided tape for adhering display gels to display faceplates, and then to display enclosures
- X-Acto Knife or sharp scissors to cut out faceplate sticker labels
- Flush cutters like these, or a 2.5mm (3/32") drill bit to take the keypad apart
- 3mm (1/8") drill bit to cut holes for the 4 AM/PM & Hour/Min LEDs in the display gels
- Cordless drill
- A power supply with at least 1000mA output. The TCD can be powered by desktop computer USB, or something like a phone charger with a Micro USB to USB cable. It can also has an on board power supply via the green connector that can accept DC power between 6-20V.
If painting 3d printed parts: There are various methods of smoothing 3d printed parts, but the following is for the old fashioned fill/sand/paint method.
- Wet sandpaper
- Filler and/or Filler/primer
- Antique Pewter Hammered spray paint for the display faceplates
- Aluminum spray paint for the enclosures
