Planing and Organising OEO-DEV-Meetings

Regular Meetings

  • Everyone is invited to attend the meetings. To gain access use the OEP contact form.
  • Thursdays (even weeks)

Create an Etherpad

  1. Use the Wikimedia Etherpad and name oeo-dev-[#]
Add the correct version number: https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/oeo-dev-[#]

  2. Copy and adapt the template:
    oeo-dev-meeting-etherpad-template

Additional Meeting: Create an Appointment Poll

  1. Use the TU Dresden dudle
  • Titel: OEO Developer Meeting #[#]
  • URL: oeo-dev_[#]
  • Erstellen
  • Add 4-8 days with two time slots (9:00-13:00 and 14:00-18:00)
  • Fertig -> Copy link to Etherpad

Notification

  1. Write an email to the oeo-dev list and include poll and pad
  • Subject matter: [OEO-DEV] OEO Developer Meeting #[#]

During the Dev Meeting

  • Have fun and be productive
  • Include everyone and be respectful
  • The meeting should follow this structure:

1. Assign Jobs

  • Moderator
  • Protocol
    • make sure everything import is written down in the etherpad, upload protocol afterwards (see aftermath)
  • Organizer of next meeting

2. Discuss General Issues

Next all general issues should be discussed. This could be paper submissions, ontology usage, releases...

3. Discuss Github Issues

Last specific github issues can be discussed. Issues discussed here should have had an unsuccessful compromise meeting before. All sides that took part in the compromise meeting can now present their solutions again. Tools to improve the discussion:

  • Whiteboard apps (e.g. Miro)
  • Break-out groups
  • Define concepts first without labels (use X, Y... instead)
  • Vote to reach a solution

Aftermath

  • Sort and clean up the shared notes
  • Remove unnecessary personal information and comments
  • Export a PDF version of the Etherpad and rename file YYYY-MM-DD_oeo-dev-[##].pdf
    • Option 1: Export .html -> open with browser and "print PDF"
    • Option 2: Copy the text to a new yopad, it is able to export as PDF
  • Add the file to the wiki
    • Clone the wiki git clone https://github.com/OpenEnergyPlatform/ontology.wiki.git
    • Add the PDF to the local folder of the OEO Wiki oeo-dev-docs
    • Push file and link in the wiki page: OEO-developer-meetings
  • Prepare for the next meeting
  • Repeat
