This page is about the GUI of PolyVR, the sections, toolbars, etc.. There is also a description of the Editor.

Here is how it should look like:

PolyVR UI

Toolbar

The toolbar in the top left will allow you to

  • create a new scene
  • load a scene (*.pvr)

It is also possible to use PolyVR as a data viewer, just switch the project open dialog filter to Model instead of Project to open a 3D Model. A default viewer scene will be started and your model loaded into it.

  • save/save as scene
  • deploy scene to web
  • close scene
  • quit PolyVR
  • about and credits
  • stats
  • fullscreen, does the same as F11 + F12

Left Panel

The left panel top most notebook has three tabs:

  • the start panel contains launchers to start scenes.
    • the favorites tab will list launchers to your scenes
    • the examples tab will show you a list of examples to check out. Those examples are kept to a minimum working scene for a specific feature. They are an important reference when developing your own applications.
  • the setup panel allows to configure the hardware setup, devices, tracking, windows and clustering.
  • the scene panel allows to create VR applications, especially scripting the application logic, handling assets and much more.

3D View - Toolbar

The toolbar above the 3D view does:

  • switch active camera
  • switch navigation
  • show cameras
  • show light sources
  • show collision shapes
  • open screen capture widget
  • show objects coordinate systems
  • visualize hardware setup
  • show rendering stats
