Dispute resolution and appeals

Aragon Court System which seems inspired by and influenced by the Augur dispute mechanism.

Augur Reporting

Source: Augur Whitepaper

One of the first proposals for decentralized dispute resolution was Augur's reporting mechanism.

In Augur's reporting mechanism, Reporters who own the REP token participate in the actions of reporting and disputes. Reporters who are consistently reporting in alignment with consensus are financially rewarded, while the ones who deviate from consensus are financially penalized.

Augur has rounds which last 7 days. During each 7 day period a reporter may stake their REP for participation tokens at a 1-to-1 ration. At the conclusion of the round, the reporter may withdraw their REP and the additional proportional amount of fees placed in the fee pool.

Augur claims that the active 7 - day check-ins ensures that reporters will be more aware of the state of Augur, when forks happen and are more ready to participate in forks when they occur.
