The first step in the creation of an educational escape room in the Escapp platform involves providing some basic information regarding the activity:

  1. Title: It is the name of the escape room. It will allow you and your students to correctly identify your educational escape rooms from the others in the platform.
  2. Subject: Course to which the escape room belongs.
  3. Description: A brief description of the educational escape room for students to get a quick idea of what to expect
  4. Duration: Time limit that students have to complete the escape room. When the time is up, the countdown will reach 0 but students will still be able to solve puzzles unless you check the "Do not allow to solve puzzles once the time is up" checkbox.
  5. Team capacity: The maximum number of students per team.
  6. Link to get support during the escape room: If you are conducting the escape room remotely, you might want to add a videoconferencing room for students to access in case there are any problems.
  7. Language: Force a specific language in Escapp for the participants of this escape room. If you are conducting an escape room in an English as Second Language course, for instance, you might want to force the web interface of Escapp to be in English for all the participants. The available languages right now are Spanish and English.
  8. Privacy: You can choose if the educational escape room is visible to all the students registered in Escapp in the home page or if the educational escape room can only be accessed through a direct link.
  9. Escape room password: Regardless of whether your escape room is visible in the home page or not, you can add a password to restrict the access to the escape room. Only students with the right password will be able to enroll.
  10. Thumbnail: Provide a picture to show as thumbnail in the Escapp home page.

Once you are done you can save the data by clicking "save", if you want to stay on the same page, or "next" if you want to move on to the next step. After saving the first step for the first time, you can leave the process at any given time and come back later. You can see how far along you are at all times in the progress bar at the bottom of the page. You can move throughout all the steps using the previous and next buttons at the bottom of each step or using the dropdown menu in the breadcrumbs at the top of the page.
