Pre-agenda:
• KM informed about his absence from work during the coming 9 months, for private reasons (to work as a volunteer for a NGO in Africa), so he will not be available to contribute to the team until the end of 2019. JK on behalf of TT-WMD expressed his appreciation for KM’s great work for the team and also the best wishes for his new experience during the long leave.
Agenda item 1 - Short briefing on the relevant outcomes from ICG-WIGOS-8
• LN briefed the participants on two of the major outcomes relevant for TT-WMD: o The recommendations, conclusions and actions form TT-WMD-7, presented by JK, were all endorsed by ICG-WIGOS; o ICG-WIGOS acknowledged the importance of the work being develop by TT-WMD and gave a clear message that the mandate of all task teams is extended for another year or until further notice.
• JK stressed the need to continue the work and to keep the team members engaged, in order to ensure the maintenance and the future evolution of the WMDS. Agenda item 2 - Brief introduction to Github
• LI and NH provided a brief introduction to the Github system, an online tool for discussing and tracking issues related to the evolution and maintenance of the WMDS, especially for the code tables that are now all available at: https://github.com/wmo-im/wmds/tree/master/tables_en;
• For those less familiar with Github there is information on how to use it and on how to work with the code tables, available on the Github Wiki at: https://github.com/wmo-im/wmds/wiki;
• All TT-WMD members are requested to register themselves with the Github and to inform the Secretariat on their username, to allow joining them to the WMDS area in Github: https://github.com/wmo-im/wmds - Action = as soon as possible;
• The agenda and summaries/outcomes are from now on also available on the Github.
Agenda item 3 - Discuss and close the pending issues with code tables:
• The following issues described in Github were mentioned as being open: Issue 4, Issue 15, Issue 30, Issue 32, Issue 33, Issue 34, Issue 36, Issue 37, Issue 38, Issue 39, Issue 40, Issue 42, Issue 44, Issue 45, Issue 46, Issue 47, Issue 48, Issue 49.
• The inclusion of the entries “Unknown” and “Inapplicable” across all code tables, for harmonization, was again discussed and the conclusion was that the decision from TT-WMD-7 should be implemented, except for the code tables not owned by TT-WMD, e.g. the units table.
• LN suggested that the code tables should be identified in Github by both their numbers and their titles, currently the titles are missing. Agenda item 4 - Conclusion and next steps
• It was agreed that most code tables are now in a good shape, there is just the need for TT-WMD members to finalize the discussion and close those issues open in Github, in order to produce a release that will allow sending the updated code tables for approval via the WMO FastTrack procedure.
• It was agreed that the deadline for this Action should be Friday 15 February 2019.
• LN to setup a Doodle poll for the next WebEx discussion based on the following dates/time: o 4 March 2019 at 9 UTC (10 am, Geneva) o 6 March 2019 at 9 UTC (10 am, Geneva) o 7 March 2019 at 9 UTC (10 am, Geneva)
