Recce

ℹ️ The codriver in gRally is different from the other sims, 'cause the pacenotes (for turns and distances) are calculated automatically starting from a recce: this basically means that you are not able to change a single turn pacenote, but you will able to parametrize the turns by the steer angle value.

Recording a recce.

The first step to do is make a recce drive: to do this you simply drive the stage at low speed (necessary to have the driveline more clear possible), doing your best driveline possible, without steer corrections (necessary 'cause the AI reads the steer value and if you countersteer, the system recognize a different turn type), run until the end of the stage and save this replay run.

Evalutate the recce (Step 1).

choose Go on your Recce page, choose stage/car and the recce replay you saved and click the play recce button (3).

Run the recce .

When the replay loads look like this: In this run you can see:

  • Replay panel (1) where you can pause/play and change the speed of the replay (a long stage in 1x is boring 😁);
  • Recce panel (2) where you see the recce informations, like the turns angle, etc...
  • Annotations (3) ⚠️ this is wip, is needed to add the notes that the AI can't recognize, like jump, warning, etc...
  • Pacenotes name (4) at the end of the stage, enter the name and press the save to save the xml.

Use the new pacenotes.

If you are making the pacenotes for a new stage, the file needs to be moved from Documents\gRally\Stages\StagenameVersioned\Pacenotes into the installation stage (next to the stage.xml) and renamed pacenotesX.xml where x is the layout of the stage;

If you are making your own pacenotes for you, you can leave the file in the Documents\gRally\Stages\StagenameVersioned\Pacenotes and choose under the stage image in the drive panel:
