Steering Committee 201905 Minutes
Present: Jeff, Matthias, Yan, Heather, James, Tommy, Scott, and Steve
- Need for new SC Chair
Steve explained his reasons for deciding to step down. Basically, two things are at play: significant new projects and responsibilities; and a decision for his library to eventually move away from CORAL. Jeff, as an SC member as well, would also eventually leave the SC.
Steve clarified that he has held this position for about 3 1/2 years. SC chairs have a two year term, so he’s leaving in the middle of his second term. He was re-elected in December 2017.
Heather volunteered to serve as interim chair until the next election in November. Steve will set up an online vote process.
As part of conversation on this topic, Heather mentioned her desire to also transition away from a newsletter format for communicating with the CORAL user community (this came up because she wants to inform and involve the user community in the succession process, and those in attendance all agreed that this would be a good idea). Instead, she’d make use of the existing News post ability on coral-erm.org, which basically makes use of WordPress’s blog capability.
- Status of agreement with OLF
Heather mentioned that she is waiting on further input from the current chair of the OLF governance group before proceeding. She will get in touch with that person to get a status update.
- Two PRs that need SC input
Jeff led discussion on two PRs that need SC input. One had to do with whether we should remove any appearance of support/functionality for SUSHI stats loads for COUNTER R3. SC members agreed that this should be removed. The other included the GPL license in a license file in the repository. SC members agreed that was the correct license and that it was appropriate to include it in the repository.
